Join us for a weekend festival of left-wing politics and culture! Check out the full festival programme here!
Sheffield Transformed is hosting our first ever weekend festival from Friday 19th - Sunday 21st July 2024 at SADACCA, 48 Wicker, S3 8JB.
The festival will give people the chance to hear new ideas, take part in discussion, receive training, enjoy art, and be creative. The programme will cover local, national and international issues and provide a space for radical, collaborative and creative political education.
Tickets for the daytime festival are on a sliding scale of £0/£8/£15/£20, while tickets for the Saturday night party range from £5/£8/£12. Please scroll down for further information on the different prices.
Festival Programme
Our full festival programme is available here!
We'll kick things off with a launch event on Friday. Then, over the weekend, three or four sessions will run simultaneously, covering a broad range of topics. Sessions will represent the exciting political activism that takes place in South Yorkshire with formats that encourage participation.
The programme will feature:
A radical history tour
Lefty speed dating
Merry Earth Collective
Poetry, drumming and song-writing workshops
QTIBPOC Cinema Club
Sheffield Kurdish Solidarity Network
Sheffield Tenants' Union
and more!
Saturday Night Party Lineup
Get ready for the Sheffield Transformed Saturday Night Party! Party tickets are available on the link above - £5/8/12
Featuring live music from:
Lou Gold (dreamy indie folk)
Lucy & Hazel (queer radical folk)
Cattle Grid (punky violin-rock)
Malah Palinka (8 piece funk/jazz/soul/hip-hop)
and DJs:
Poppy Turner (northern soul)
KomKom (Barang/Rebel Soul) (soca/Afro-Latin house/techno)
Malus (Mondo Radio/Club)
Please note: the party will take place upstairs at SADACCA in a large room accessed only by a flight of stairs. Unfortunately, this is due to issues outside of ours and SADACCA's control, as the lift at SADACCA has had a delay to repairs until after the weekend. If you have already booked a party ticket and can no longer attend, please accept our sincere apologies and we're happy to issue a refund.
Volunteering
We are looking for a group of volunteers to help us promote and run the festival - everything from tech support to stewards, wellbeing leads to social media support. Sign up here: https://forms.gle/cFzK2TaZuNLXyFF28
Ticket Pricing
We want as many as people as possible to attend the festival and don't want ticket prices to be a barrier. At the same time, we need to raise enough money to cover costs, such as hiring the venue. We've put together a sliding scale of ticket prices so that we can raise the money we need, without pricing anyone out.
When booking a place, we would ask that you select the ticket that you can afford:
£15 Standard Festival Ticket: This is what our budget says we need to charge to cover the event.
£20 Solidarity Festival Ticket: If you are comfortable and have a decent income, please consider paying a little more.
£8 Low Income Festival Ticket: For people on lower incomes who cannot afford the full ticket price.
£0 No Charge: For people who have no disposable income at all. Free tickets are also available to carers attending with a ticketholder, and children and young people.
Merchandise
We've teamed up with Black Lodge Press to pay homage to The People's Republic of South Yorkshire. Celebrate South Yorkshire's history of radicalism with iconic designs available as:
A3 prints for £10
T-shirts for £15
Tote bags for £12.
Purchases can be made for a limited time on our online shop or in person at the festival. Proceeds from sales will help cover the cost of the Sheffield Transformed Festival and our future events.
Accessibility and Safer Spaces
Throughout the process of planning the festival, accessibility has been central to our decision making and, as many event planners will know, finding a large venue which is fully accessible in the city is incredibly difficult. Our chosen venue SADACCA offers many wonderful spaces in the heart of a fantastic community and we have a very exciting and varied programme which we have planned across the whole space. Some of this space is accessed via a lift which is currently broken but was due to be fixed before our festival.
We’re very sorry to say that, for reasons beyond our or the venue’s control, we have been informed that it is highly unlikely that the lift will be repaired in time for the festival. As a result of this, some of the sessions in the programme will not be accessible. Due to sound control reasons and amplified music needing to remain on the 1st floor, this includes the Saturday night party.
Our tiered ticketing system means that attendees can choose the price of their ticket. If you feel that the lack of accessibility in these sessions will compromise your ability to get the most out of our festival, we encourage you to choose our ‘Free’ ticket option. If you’ve already purchased a ticket and you wish to get a refund, please contact us via email at sheffieldtransformed@gmail.com.
You can learn more about these accessibility issues and our efforts to address them in our full statement.
