Join us for a screening of The Wind That Shakes the Barley to mark St. Patrick's Day.
In Ken Loach’s acclaimed war drama, Cillian Murphy and Padraic Delaney play brothers who join the Irish Republican Army in 1920 after witnessing the killing of a friend at the hands of the Black and Tans, the British force tasked with suppressing revolution in Ireland. Despite apparent victory against the British, civil war erupts and the brothers find themselves on opposing sides of the ideological divide, leading to tragic consequences.
The Wind That Shakes the Barley was awarded the Palme d'Or at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival and remains Loach’s biggest commercial success.
The film will be introduced by Gerry Kelly, Connolly Association member, who will provide a history of the struggle for Irish independence from British colonialism and occupation. He will also be on hand after the screening to answer any audience questions.
Please note that the film has been given a 15 rating due to strong language and violence, including depiction of torture.
Please arrive promptly to find your seat for a 7pm start.

Ticket Pricing
We want as many as people as possible to attend our events and don't want ticket prices to be a barrier. At the same time, we need to raise enough money to cover costs, such as hiring the venue. We've put together a sliding scale of ticket prices so that we can raise the money we need, without pricing anyone out.
When booking a place, we would ask that you select the ticket that you can afford:
£5 Standard Ticket: This is what our budget says we need to charge to cover the event.
£7 Solidarity Ticket: If you are comfortable and have a decent income, please consider paying a little more.
£3 Low Income Ticket: For people on lower incomes who cannot afford the full ticket price.
No Charge Ticket: For people who have no disposable income at all.
