Would you like to help make our next festival happen?
Sheffield Transformed are looking for volunteers and organisers to help with events including our next festival. We were blown away by the response to last summer’s festival and would love the next one to be an even bigger success. We’re keen to expand our team of organisers and pool of volunteers.
No experience is necessary - we just need people who share our values and are passionate about social justice.
We are looking for people who are interested in the following roles:
Organisers - a year-round role to organise events and activities with Sheffield Transformed. This includes smaller ad-hoc events and the festival itself.
The types of things you would be involved in are:
- Programming (timetabling, arranging sessions, liaising with contributors)
- Logistics (venues, risk assessment, accessibility, sound/AV, food/refreshments)
- Volunteer Coordination (for the festival)
- Publicity (social media, graphic design, writing copy)
- Party Planning (booking performers, budgeting, setting running order)
Time commitment: We have an organising meeting at least once a month. This will increase in the run up to events. We understand that different people have different capacities and just ask that organisers keep us informed on this so actions can be allocated accordingly.
If you are interested in joining our organising group, please email us on sheffieldtransformed@gmail.com with some more information about you and what you would like to get involved with.
Note: We will do some vetting of applicants to ensure our values align, and we can’t guarantee that everyone who wants to join the organising group will be accepted either as a result of the vetting or if we have a large number of people enquiring about this
Event Volunteers - to provide ad-hoc support at some of our larger events.
We will advertise for roles on an ad-hoc basis where needed for events and announce more details for the festival closer to the time.
Duties may include - signing people in, selling merchandise, setting up rooms, directing people, roving mic duties, helping session facilitators.
Time commitment: this is an ad-hoc role for events only, the time commitment can vary depending on your capacity, but generally we’d like you to do at least one “shift” during the festival.
To be added to our volunteer mailing list, please provide your contact details here.
Festival-specific organisers and facilitators
For people that are interested in working with us to make the festival happen but do not want to be part of Sheffield Transformed’s regular organising group (such as those who’d like to organise a specific session or carry out specific duties at the festival), watch this space. We will provide specific call outs where needed, however, we’re always happy to have a chat about what you’d like to be involved with so please do feel free to get in touch with us.
Anybody who wishes to be involved in Sheffield Transformed will be required to read and accept our Group Structure and Culture Document - this will be sent on enquiry.
